Tracklaying Update

An update on my first attempts at handlaying outdoor track.

I cut DRGW-sized ties out of cedar boards.

Then I cut some batens from 2x pressure treated lumber, about an inch think. Laying these down on the workbench, flat side up, and, using my tie spacing jig and my brad nailer, I nailed 10 ties per foot along the piece of PT lumber.

Next, using code 250 alum rail, and some nifty SS spikes from Stretch at COCRY (these spikes have knurls on them to hold) I pre-drilled #68 holes and spiked every 4th tie.

Made 8 feet in about 30 minutes, total cost less than $5.

Pictures soon.
