Found this and thought what an unusual building this would make in a rail yard, PS this one is real!!!
Heck, I might just try that. I have a perfect spot in my yard for it anyway.
Hmmm
I like that idea, going to have to use it. Fits right in with my broke down 1930’s RR.
At the Phillips Bros. Steam saw mill they have an old Porter style cab out behind the machine shop that is used as a sorta
outdoor Blacksmiths shop, with small forge, anvil, tools etc.
Is that the rest of it in the back rt. corner?
thanks for the pic.
Richard
Could be but don’t think so, too rusty, now if someone can duplicate the rust you would have a picture perfect structure. The picture has a lot of hidden details that make it all come together but I am wondering what the rusty round objects in the for ground are. I have a cab off a aristo 0-4-0 switcher that looks pretty close think I will try it, Bill
Not too rusty, all the lagging and insulation and outer shell are missing…
Round objects look like headlamps. Looks like a recycling yard…
Where are you folks going to get a cab? Is it time to back date a loco to a cables loco?
If you zoom in, and look at the far stack of the round things, you see a lot of bolts on the periphery of the flange, look at the furthest one, and the casting itself looks awful heavy for a headlight.
If they were a bit longer, would say could be cylinders to air pumps, those bolts show that some force is being contained.
Greg
I’m with you I also thought of cylinders but as you said not long enough, but a interesting pile of steel

John, I would suggest looking in thrift shops, around here they always got several of the scientific/ezteck trains floating around cheap maybe pick up a box car for a storage shed or several cabooses for cabin motel
Those round things have flat mounting pads on them. Could they be the brake cylinders off of rolling stock?
I bought a cab from USA at York this spring. Going to use in the scrape pile.
