Track Power Polarity Question

I pulled the plug some time ago, but find that I need to hook up something temporary to test some locos I am re-wiring. I know there are two polarity “standards”; NMRA and LS. I’m looking for which rail is + when loco is traveling forward using the LS polarity standard.

Thought I had this around here somewhere but can’t locate it. I didn’t try Google because I’m likely to get conflicting answers; especially given the two polarity standards for our track.

nmra is right rail positive, loco moves forwards… LGB is backwards…

you should be able to look this up on the nmra web site…

Thanks Greg - I knew someone would know it off the top of their head!

Assuming Red is Positive, you could borrow a memory trick from nautical rules on buoy color (Red Right Returning) and call the NMRA Standard Red Right Running forward !

How about 4 r’s Red Right Running Reverse for large scale!!

Unless you are going into a French, or former French colonial or Protectorate port, then the bloody Frogs have it reversed, probably to confuse the English, dating from their almost continual wars of the 16-19th Centuries. They have it, Red, Left, Returning, or, as the Navigator in McClusky said, Led, Left, Leturning.
