Hello All. I wonder if you can help me. I’m probably going on a little bit of a tour of some Southern states soon. I’m looking for any decent railway attractions in the Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville and Charlotte areas. Also a good large scale (G/F) model shop in the Atlanta area, possibly near the international airport for a fast getaway! Thanks very much for any help you can give me.

Welcome.
I would suggest the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer,NC, not too far from Charlotte. If you look in the forum for my post on Rail Days Spencer NC, you can look at some pictures.
Also nice is the Smokey Mountain Railroad in Dillsboro,NC. Nice excursion line. They also have a nice model railroad museum. Very large O scale collection.
Last but not least is the Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock,NC. It is an amusement park but does have a nice steam powered train. I think the train ride is 3 or 4 miles.

I will echo Ralph’s statements! Tweetsie is a Family favorite!..not aware of any good LS Train shops around here at all!..maybe Southeast Trains in Augusta GA?
