I’m working on a project that I’ll document as it progresses further, if I’m happy with the results, but when setting up to start I realized how great this old platform has been for all sorts of things.
Now this table started as my wife’s uncle’s table saw platform. He was a plumber and I’m sure somebody on a job, helped him create this ample structure. I’ve had it for about 25 years, the saw went to a young teenager friend that now has teenagers and almost every project on the boat, house or railroad has some part of the process accomplished on this table. As you can see, it even has a home - sliding under part of my shop’s benchwork.
You can see scars, saw marks, paint and there is a lot that won’t even show in a picture, but a real asset to this tool is the old hole in the deck where the table saw dumped saw dust to an under slung bin.
You can use that to run you saber saw in while supporting the wood on the table’s flat surface. You can use it to clamp metal or wood to the table.
Or hold a piece along the side for cutting, sanding, filing or tweaking in any way.
Just a little something that allows me to have fun with my hobbies, projects and stuff. I’ve also used it as a platform to stand on and accidently surfed across the basement floor, once or twice. Brakes on the wheels might be a worthy option. NAH!!!
