Found this on Facebook, but there’s no indication as far as location goes. Looks like a very good test arrangement for turnouts, crossings and engines with long wheelbases.

Interesting, but modeling wise, ulness you really really like hand laying track, wouldn’t a turntable be more space efficient?
Sure, but if you are a railroad, much less maintenance.
Greg
It’s in Italy.
Wow! Its like a scissors Wye, but with the point folded back. I wonder…
I would love to build that for my club, and then watch as operators get totally confused as to how to operate the thing. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Post deleted. My point was invalid!
Since when has the validity of a point made a difference…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

I would love to see what that was all about. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Now that is a neat Double WYE? Someone here has to build one.
Go for it Todd, Let’s see, 5 switches, and 4 diamonds, and Oh Yeaa, track powered please!

Yep, but I’m not volunteering; I wouldn’t have a spot for it. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
WoW !

Alas I already have a WYE on my RR so someone else will have to step up. Wiring it for track power would be a challenge and I forsee many fuses being fried.
hmmm, very interesting. Would like someone to try this with short radius, really confuse people lol
It looks like the left most tail was longer at one time and that the track work in that area has been redone, note the one switch to no where. The remaining tail looks very short compared to the others. Perhaps a remnant from the steam days that is no longer used.
HJ can you give us a Long-Lat, so we can find that thing. I also noticed that there is no exit to the bottom, only in and out at the top.
Dave,
All you have to do is “right click” on the image, and ask for “Search Google for this Image” and it comes up with the location.
Yeah, but that only works in Chrome
Here are the coordinates for Google Earth 39°10’03.55" N 8°30’45.11" E
BTW it isn’t mainland Italy, it’s on the island of Sardinia.
PS when using Google Earth, click on the pictures by the station, looks like an excursion train - steam powered. Would have been neat to shoot a video of the engine going through the motions on that 3 point-turn trackage.
Yes, its only good for turning a locomotive. If I built one for the club, it would have to have longer tail tracks for turning a whole train. Oh that would really be fun.
Wiring it for DCC would not be too difficult, but since many club members cant quite get the hang of a “standard” Wye, I could see something like that just blowing their minds.

And you think I am sick??? That would be a track laying nightmare. At least to my uninitiated eye.
