Large Scale Central

Toddalin's Gallow's Humor

Oh, total cost was $20 for the piece of 3/8" acrylic and I sent $10 for the blocks.

Nice work Todd!.

Todd, this may be the most unique build I have seen. You did a great job on the entire project but especially the finishing details. I love the fact that the “Gallows” serve as a multi-function structure.

Because I can only display a hanging or fiesta at a time during open houses, we opted for the hanging scene.

However, the Pecos Pinata would not be denied and demanded its own vingette. Voila! Other children will go around it.

I believe in consistancy throughout the railroad as it lends credability.

With three “Taylor” headstones, there needed to be three Taylors being hung.

If you view the past photos, the first was shown taking in his last cigarette before meeting his demise. The second is being dragged in on the horse with a bag over his head. So, where is the third Taylor???

The widow maker mine shed was reinforced. Bars were added to the window and an “jail” door (cut on the laser) was added. This is right across from the gallows where he will have a nice view of his cohorts as they…

I just hope that someone remembered to remove the explosives before locking him up.

Ha! That is a great use for that Bachmann building. The bars are perfect.

How about those explosives??

Thanks Todd.

Fortunately, at this scale, the amount of explosives was only about enough to blow his nose.

Some, and way back when, most hangings were performed with a simple rope hung from a tree branch, with the person to be hanged, sitting on a horse.

This alternate plan, would involve gardening…the training of an appropriate tree to provide the branch, then a good model of a standing horse, where a model of the person to be hanged is mounted, with hands tied…

This involves several modelling skills, and an element of gardening…

Who will be first to create the scene, using those mixed skills ?

What you describe is exactly how I had it set up before building the gallows.
