Large Scale Central

Todd H. Scores Again.

Congrats Todd. 2 1/2 page spread in Feb. Garden Railway, on his depressed center flatcar build article.

Good work. More Famous people on LSC.

Now, with a copy in one hand and a donut in the other, Napkin ready, The Build challenge will be a piece of cake, (err Donut).

Thanks Dave. I missed this post and congratulated Noel Wilson on his article and commented with a wink on the thread that had been started for him.

I was surprised to see my build in the mag since it has only been about 2 years since it was accepted and I kind of chuckled at how crude the car looked. LOL

I have been given more thought to my original napkin plan schematic and have since added a few more dots a line and an arrow. The plan is really coming together. LOL

This is gonna be a good one

Yikes two years. Nice job tho even if it is old. Later RJD

Todd,
Nice work! Even if it is an older submission. I found it amusing that my as yet unfinished Depressed Center project car started with much the same “core” construction. Although I used solid poplar. My plans are for a much larger modern 1:29ish scale model with bolsters and 4 trucks. I will skin mine in plastic instead of wood. Eventually, once I find the workshop again.

Chas

Hi Chas Thanks. That regular depressed center flat was a what if can I do it build. More recently I wanted to build a Schnabel but my RR is way too small for one of those so the next best thing was a heavy duty flat like the one LGB made. The trouble was they are $100 bucks and up so I made one using a USAT depressed center and a Bachmann flat cut in half. I’m rather proud how it came out.

The transformer is a LGB one but I had to add the bottom piece because the USAT deck was too short.
When you find your shop get building and post some photos for us please.

Congrats!

Hey Todd, that car looks great!!!
