Large Scale Central

Today ordered Hartland Locomotive Works unlettered Orange Sparky

Hey Y’all;

Have been wanting to do large scale traction for some time. Initially thought about scratchbuilding some kind of body on some power block.

In the end, today ordered Hartland Locomotive Works unlettered Orange Sparky with pantograph.
May eventually get the red one lettered for Pacific Electric with pole.

Going to letter Sparky for my freelance HO trolley company “Willow Creek Traction”.

Think the frosted windows will be replaced with clear material if I can figure out how to get the body off after it arrives.

And it will need a motorman in there too.

Not having a garden, will build narrow shelf along apartment living room wall to display and drive the thing.
Ought to be much easier to build G scale trolley wire than HO, ya know!

I love the sound of pole or pans sliding along the wire!

OH Yes HLW work well for me …

And check my tanker unit train , and it will pull even more than this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=759emOOjGnk

nice photo, thanks
That little thing has some tractive effort!

Dennis,

That is a great video! You sure do get the flavor of an industrial traction line.

Thanks guys , it is fun .

Your comment Ric caused to think about the COOKs Brewery in Evansville , they had a work motor and a GE steeplecab , and did not go 5 blocks . From switching the brewery and to a 5 track yard further on Division St , where the interchange was transferred to the C&EI , and the brewery averaged 15 to 25 cars a DAY , wow , thats a lot of beer , and the stuff to make it .
Of course the ES&N traction line was 8 miles long , long runs , ha ha ha

Like I always say i love HLW stuff. You cant beat the price and the quality.

Dennis lets see more pictures. You have a great looking railway

More HLW in use …

Shawn,

Your statement is more correct than you can imagine. Dennis has achieved what many of us work toward. His railroad and his rules.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain , comes to mind .

…grinning…

And they don’t quit working!

The “cog” railway at the Botanic destroys locos. The LGB cog engines last a couple months. Dave figured he’d have to tear it out. “Watch this,” I said, and set a Mac switcher on it. It’s been running there 2 summers now.
