I’d do it in a second! On the Narrow Gauge Discussion Group, a video was posted just last week, showing the beautiful fall colors. Video was taken from the headlight. What a change in just a few days!
The Cumbres and Toltec WAS supposed to run a double-header today. The last DH of the year.

I’ve never understood why the fireman has to show how poorly he can fire the locomotive just as the locomotive is getting into position for the photo run-by. There was great white steam, then the fireman opened the oil valve and flooded the firebox, producing all that greasy smoke. They should fire the bloke, pun intended.
Oil? They’re coal fired. As in head down a$$ high and shovel like the devil.
And, for whatever reason photographers usually ask for lots of smoke
That last vid, They are climbing a 4% grade to Cumbres,
And that fireman is shoveling his ass off.

2012 Steam School: June 17 - 20, August 19 -22, and October 14 - 17. All begin on Sunday afternoon and run through Wednesday. Fireman $2,000.00, Engineers $2,500.00 you must take the fireman school first to be eligible to take the engineer school.
