To flatten and toss

Well, today I started my display wall in the train room. I removed cars from box after box. Most are “red boxes” with a dozen or so yellow ones, a few black ones, and some maroon/blue (Delton.)
Now what?
I had a sudden urge to flatten, smash the Styrofoam, and toss the lot. (Over a hundred.)
But “something” said, " store the #$#@$ things."
I guess I could put them up in the hayloft of the old barn.
Why, I asked the “something.” I’m never gonna sell them. My wife can give all the trains to my friends, if I don’t out-live her.
What if I keep the loco boxes in case I need to send one somewhere.
What is it that keeps telling me to keep those damn boxes???
What to do…what to do…
Sigh…

I went to the “Keep The Box” school. I just threw out the boxes from a stereo system purchased in '82 to make room for train boxes.

I can’t say I’ll never sell any of it. Several of my purchases were made before I knew what I wanted to do. I’ve sold a few here and there already and it was very nice to have the box for shipping.

If you have the space, keep 'em. You can always burn them for heat if funds get low :open_mouth:

I would be interested in the Red Boxes, if you decide to get rid of them. I have several locos & cars that need boxes.

John, I’m in the same boat. I’m space challenged…because of boxes…or maybe they are telling me I’ve got too many trains… I’m about to do as you…throw the boxes away for the cars but keep the locomotive boxes. With cars, should I decide to sell them they wrap fine in bubble wrap should I decide to sell them. Locomotives are better off in their original boxes.
