I would like to build a gantry similar to this one in 1:20.3. Does anyone have any idea what the trolly on top looks like? I can’t find a close up of it. I should be able to cobble up some thing with Ozark mini’s.
Honestly? How much is that kit? Till you add up all the NWB castings and pulleys, it might be cheaper just to bite the bullet and buy it.
Just by looking at the pic I’d guess you need 2 small pulleys on top of the rail and 2 more to ride under the web on the far side, 2 brake wheels, a block w/ 2 pulleys on the top, a second block w/ pulley and hook on the bottom, almost 5 feet of chain, and about 150 NWB castings in 3 different sizes… plus a bunch of basswood (or cedar) and styrene or brass I-beam and strips. The basics could be done in about 2 evenings… drilling for all those NWBs a couple very boring more…
Hope that helps
Mik,
That is an “0” scale kit.
I can handle the frame and joists and the “I” beam on top. Ozarks has the chain and pulleys. The tram or whatever it’s called is the conundrum.
It doesn’t even have to work. Just for looks. Another interesting item on the layout is all I’m after.
Not sure if this helps.

I THINK you’re just looking for a movable chain block, but I haven’t found any really good details.
John, Looks like the only thing you can’t see would be strap iron rails on the top surfaces for your carriage to run on and that would be bolted down every foot or so.
