Tier 4 critter on a, as in 1, Flexicoil 3 axle truck

On railpictures dot net, if this ain’t kitbash fodder, there never ever has been any in the entire history of the known universe.
Several thoughts came to mind. First, what the heck is that? Second, looks like something a garden railroader kitbashed. Third, that’s a cool idea. Fourth, yes, Virginia, there is a prototype for everything.

With all of the flat panels, a modeler could whip one of those up in no time. It would take me a bit longer.

Funny, I have been considering doing a box cab on a PA truck, guess it wouldn’t be all that far fetched !

I like!

That’s the second off the line locomotive from Curry Rail in Holidaysburg, PA. They are in the former PRR car shop. They have been rebuilding cars for a few years, just ventured into the small locomotive market with this “bash”. A pretty cool idea.

Interesting little switcher. Here is a link to the company.

In the first promo video, did anyone else notice this sitting on the track next to the on the loco was running on?

Yup, I noticed the “OLD” archbar truck just setting on the adjoining track. I thought that if they can make a loco from scratch, they just might also be doing some outside restorations. In the builders photo on the main page it’s seen setting behind the new engine

Not surprised to hear that! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Would this fit on your creations seeing it is a three wheel truck ?

I have been working on this project for years, long before RP made the announcement. I have to admit, I based my idea on a 4-axle unit built by Shawmut Car Shops many years ago. But I wanted a unit to replace the Arcade & Attica Railroad’s 380hp 44-tonner, so I decided to go with a smaller 3-axle unit using a single traction motor and rods.

The original incarnation used a retired SD-40-2 truck while the new units use DASH-9/GEVO salvage trucks.

Oh, forgot I posted this! Fun discussion.

HTC trucks are all the rage!
