Some of you may remember me walking around York with a camera and dry erase board. Remember these folks?
Thanks All;
Nice to see them again. I really miss going to York, especially since my college buddy and life-long friend, Dave Laughery, passed away in February. Dave and I had some very good times in York at ECLSTS.
Regards, David Meashey
I was a latecomer… but have wonderful memories. The first couple years I attended, I was too excited to take pics. So here’s a few from 2019.
I love this shot…
I need to dig through my pictures. I have pics from the very early days at York, when the D&B was about eight people crammed into Freddy’s/Ric’s/Whoever’s room.
I was at a few of those. Most memorable was the year that Bart was performing surgery on one of the rodents. Sorry, but even for free, I’m not a Honey Brown fan
Jon, more details please
Those were the days. I really miss them. It’s hell getting old.
Well, I don’t know the back story of the Rodents. @freddy Mills could provide that. The show and social group was well established when I first attended in the 4h or 5th year of the annual show.
Fred was quite a character in those days dressing in full monk regalia and traveling with an entourage of stuffed rodents. I first encountered them in the Bar of the show hotel. I don’t know when the Rodent Party became the Drag & Brag, but eventually the party moved to a large hotel room and later to a banquet room.
Fred would arrange with a local distributor to provide several cases of Honey Brown beer for free! At one of these private room parties Fred had brought the cadre of rodents, at least one was animated, but had failed. The late Bart Salmons (very much alive at the time) decided to attempt repair of the rodent and preformed open cavity surgery right there on the table! If my memory is accurate, the patient did not pull through.
I can find no photos these early parties. My photos above are from 2003-2005.
Digging through past threads, it looks like 2010 was the first year we had a dedicated room for the D&B. Previously we had just commandeered a section of the bar.
A bunch of us stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across town, and got a board room on the 5th floor to hang out in.
The next year, we were back at the host hotel, and rented the Susquehanna room for the next several years.
Nope, I stand corrected. In 2008 we had the Susquehanna room. (pictures from Some images from theECLSTS - #10 by Bruce_Chandler)
Still digging…
And looks like in 2006 and 2007 we were in the double suite.
Photo from 2004, when Bart and I gave Freddy his robes.
And some from 2005
This might also be 2004
Oh man. We were all young, once!
