and I have noticed that "Christmas" isn't used too much anymore either, it's winter celebration on most later episodes....

Thomas Truthiness
Model Railroad, magazine did a 6 to 8 page right up and photos of the thomas layout about 10 or 15 years ago. It had a lot of information, like how they brought the smoke from under the track, size of the layout, and I thind there was a track arangement shown. Aaron had that issue when he was around 4 or 6 years old.
Cool thread guys. I still like Thomas!
Jon.
A man of good taste , obviously .
Thomas the Tank Engine turns 80 today, May 9th!
Even though it’s May 9th here, I can’t find the episode yet because maybe it isn’t May 9th there… sigh.

Here is the auction site for the shows props. It goes for 2 more days.
On this note, Sue was reading up on this.
Mattel has all the Thomas Locos, Cars, props and such in storage. They will be restoring a lot of it, to go on auction to help support a British Autism non-profit. No one will pocket any of the proceeds . Some items will be autographed by the Thomas voices from times gone by. Maybe Ringo Starr.
For those that do not know, Thomas was modeled and filmed in 0 scale (not sure if it is 1:48 or 7mm)… I do believe there was a complete layout, which I have no idea what happened to it. Too bad, there was some great modeling considering it was built in the '50s and '60s
Folks;
When I helped at the tourist railroad, the gift shop offered Thomas story books from England. I would purchase different titles and read them to my (then) young daughters for bedtime stories. The size of each book was about the same as the area of a postcard. they were about 3/8inch thick, and usually had three or four stories each. I think I currently have about 16 or 17 of the small books plus the large omnibus edition.
Later I recorded the stories on cassette tapes so the girls could listen to the stories while leafing through the small books for the pictures, as we drove to Grandma’s house in Dublin, IN. I didn’t realize that my younger daughter took those cassette tapes with her to college so she could hear my voice without the expense of a long-distance phone call. She ended up getting her roommate hooked on Thomas!

In an interview, Ian McCue a producer for the show said, “There is a huge community around Thomas and that includes many people on the spectrum. I think what also appeals to them also are the routines and order of the railway. It runs to a schedule. The bright colours of the engines and calmness of the shows – compared to a lot of other children’s TV and cartoons – make it an excellent watch for them.”
Bidding is open and it looks like it runs for the next 54 hours (2days 6hours).
