David,
That is a most informative site. That was the type of info I was looking for and probably a lot more info than I wanted to know. Thank you for the link.

I’ve got a grandson that is totally engrossed and of course this makes good conversation for all of us. Anything that is good, please pass along. I find it very educating and entertaining. I can’t help but look at the the episodes with a model railroader’s eye, as I’m sure many do.
Ric ,
come on , you don’t need that old excuse , we all like watching it . The benefits of the modelling techniques are just a bonus .
Mike
Oh Mike,
I do enjoy watching them, but after the 8th time, I get past the story line, but Luke wants it to keep running. I’ve been trying to figure out the track plans.
Hello,… My name is Cale… and My family and I are addicted to Thomas!
We watch on a regular (daily) basis here at home. 2 boys, 3 (Eli)and 19mo(Luke)…
For the boys Thomas is the favorite with Percy coming in a close 2nd. I personally adore Toby and have almost finished a 1:20.3 Batt version of him. I also like all of the “little” engines on the Narrow Gauge Line.
Most recently there is a new twist to the Island of Sodor, construction trucks and tractors…they were featured last year on 2 episodes and now have a full DVD-On Site with Thomas, which is a nice break from Railfanning on Sodor. Alfie and Jack are the favs there…
Daily…I watch with the boys and enjoy…It keeps us all “into” trains…We DVR PBS each week that a new episode comes on, and have a ton on DVD/VHS too!
Sometimes Thomas is the only thing that will calm my youngest…
Yeah, we are Thomas-holics and that is just ok with me!
The program and “seeing” a big train fueled my wonder-lust with the G world…
…One Day-a Live Steamer Thomas for Dad!!!I have seen one someone did and it was a beauty!

A relisting of the link mentioned earlier.
Well , Ric ,
It takes me ten viewings to get the plot , I’m so busy trying to work out which locos they’ve used as a basis , and how many layouts or part layouts they’ve got . I do know it must be nearly the perfect job to work on that .
The other amusing thing is to go to preserved railways here and see how many of them have a store with Glass Fibre Smokebox Fronts of all the Thomas Characters . Clean , polished , and ready to go at the call of the fat controller .

Very un-PC, too many pie eaters I guess!
You don’t mean you get the thing censored , do you ? Without the original sound track with the Beatle speaking it , half the jokes won’t make sense .
That’s one of the great things about it , it is something to watch with the kids where you don’t get embarrassed . It is also educational , kids learn a lot about right and wrong watching the series . It ought to be compulsory viewing .

I am pretty sure he was always the Fat Controller, aka Sir Henry Toppham. But it was 40 odd years ago.
I got this linky poo in an Email…To say the least its interesting and appropriate!

and I have noticed that “Christmas” isn’t used too much anymore either, it’s winter celebration on most later episodes…

Early VHS episodes refer to him as the Fat Controler…later…ummmm, No.and I have noticed that “Christmas” isn’t used too much anymore either, it’s winter celebration on most later episodes…
A protective prayer to fight off the impact of political correctness -
God save me from the “good people”. My enemies only want to kill me, but the “good people” want to change me.
I am fairly sure it is only the later Region 1 DVD’s that changed, all the others have the correct language.
Now why they did it is another issue.

Model Railroad, magazine did a 6 to 8 page right up and photos of the thomas layout about 10 or 15 years ago. It had a lot of information, like how they brought the smoke from under the track, size of the layout, and I thind there was a track arangement shown. Aaron had that issue when he was around 4 or 6 years old.
Cool thread guys. I still like Thomas!
Jon.
A man of good taste , obviously .
