Large Scale Central

This will be a fun build

Way back in the day, Walthers offered a line of Tongue-in-Cheek model kits in HO. One of them was Peanut One (President Jimmy Carter’s rail transport). I built the kit, later sold it, then regretted selling it for decades.

While straightening out the used HO cars and kits this past Saturday, I came across an unbuilt Peanut One. Second chances are great. I will really enjoy building this little car. I’ll take my time and embellish things that I didn’t the first go round. It’s OK if this one becomes a shelf queen.

“Peanut One” That’s funny. I wonder if Carter endorsed this? The model train hobby seems like something he would have approved of as good wholesome fun and learning.
This could be a collector item with his recent passing.

I say keep this one in the box and build one in G. :grinning:

Todd;

I probably could build the car in large scale, but I would need a friend to 3D print the peanut carbody. I think I read somewhere that the mold for the HO carbody was originally used for figurines of the Planters Mr. Peanut character.

Or wander over to Amazon…

Thanks Bob;

That looks more like it could be 7/8 inch or 1inch and ride on scale. Pretty cool though.

Love it Dave, please post a build log. :+1:

Dave,

If a Schnabel is not on the cards, maybe a printer could be. You won’t even have to learn CAD for this project. Here’s the STL file you’re looking for and it’s free.

Nice. That way, one could scale it, put in flats for window material, and maybe flats on the bottom to keep it from rocking.

But yeah, what Bob suggested…
