I forgot to take pictures before I started, oops. Anyway, this is another cast iron toy upgrade somewhat along the lines of the Huber roller that I did last winter. Here is the prototype, a Buffalo-Pitts rear mounted traction engine made about 1912. This is about an 18HP engine (70 on the belt).

The cast toy scales out a little bigger, so it will be a 22 or 25 horsepower. Short list of what I did; reshaped the rear bunkers with wood and putty because they had a funny taper, added the side tanks of 1" wood dowel, scratched the steering gear, modified the cylinder a little, added a firebox door and whistle.

Since it’s a ‘10 foot’ model, I didn’t do a whole lot of small details. There’s no injector piping or valve gear, and the governor is still kind of crude.
