Large Scale Central

This is what intrigues me!

Must be too many episodes of Thomas and Friends…Idonknow, but I keep coming back to a desire to do this instead of my American Outline Logging/Freight…didn’t help when we purchased the latest Thomas DVD and the entire thing was about the “little engines”…where would one purchase this type of loco in “G” here in the States?

cale

You need to start hanging out at the G scale mad site, Cale ( http://www.gscalemad.co.uk/ ). Lots of little euro engines bought or bashed from LGB stuff, Roundhouse liver steamers, etc.

Brian, thanks!

I’ve been lurking there for a few years, just signed up last week…need to go intro me-self I reckon!

cale

No need to travel abroad… Some really cool small locos here in the US, too.

If you’re ever out in Cripple Creek, CO, take a look. They’ve got some cool little locos out there. Later, K

Or Maine…

Or Indiana

But Cale … why!!!

Matthew (OV)

Last time I was in Cripple Creek, they had a little Porter pulling the train. Wasn’t much of a ride but the scenery was great!

Thanks guys…

Matt, not really sure why, kinda like Gravity I guess you could say-Peter Jones may be to blame as well? The round portals and tiny drivers are my favorite part. It may become one of those back shelf projects…I have more than I can afford to convert now (American Outline)…I’d really love something like that first photo I posted to toss on the track and let it run around a while?

I’m telling you…I watch too much Thomas and Friends! The little engines have always intrigued me, and may get the best of me yet?

cale

Cale,

Its an age thing, but not yours. Remeber I saw the six shooter at Perry.

I also find Thomas real intersting, but one genreation removed.

I love small locos too, though I tend to prefer the American variety. Round windows belong on ships!

Kevin, what’s the name of the railroad in that first pic? I can’t quite make it out.

Its the Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad ( http://www.cripplecreekrailroad.com/ ). That’s the cutest little mallet I have ever seen -

Note that it is indeed a TRUE Mallet!

To answer the original question, how about the LGB 20140 field loco? Still a bunch out there.

Mik that would deff work, checked all “big” retailers, no shown in stock…?

e-Bay is the place to look for LGB now. I'm sure retail inventory must be pretty limited after the long period of no production. Ralph

Ok, so if anyone comes across one of these that is affordable…please let me know! thanks! cale

Kraynak’s Garden Center in Hermitage Pa. HAD a couple the last time I was there (last December)…however they were NOT exactly bargain priced (full MSRP, I think) Phone: 724-347-4511 Fax: 724-347-1987 Email: [email protected] I will be making another pilgrimage up there, but it won’t be until NEXT December… (To see the Christmas trees and maybe buy some more Lemax and Just Plain Folks stuff)

Thanks Mik…Intrigued, but not MSRP intrigued…I could do a live steamer for that-which holds even more intrigue?!

Victor, I was getting red in the face finding no kits at the locolines link above, so me Googled “Locolines Kits” and found this:
http://www.locolines.net/kits.htm

thanks for the heads up, I have wandered through IP a few times and may make an order soon!

cale

Nice Kits, but I’ve never built with “card” and then once you figure the poor ole’ $ against the Euro…well dang, who can afford that?

Oh well, I will mark the page and maybe one day get back over there…
