Someone has just forwarded a press release to me:

Date line San Francisco 2007/04/01

We are LGB!

Contrary to the rumours in the press, on various forums on the Internet and in discussions everywhere, we would like to emphasize that we are LGB worldwide, some of us even qualify as LGBoA since we are residents of the USA.

Any confusion as regards the LGB moniker is purely that “Confusion”! We claim the rights on the basis of having the longest established usage and practical application.

Signed

World Headquarters of the practising Lesbian, Gay and Bi-Sexual (LGB) Federation.

If there are question regarding the claim of the organisation, please consult “Google” (use LGB as the search subject)

Hopefully that LGB will remain in San Francisco…

Now that would be GREAT if they were the ones going out of business…

I think a little history research might be in order as EPL/LGB goes back at least to the mid 1960’s in this country, the L.G.B. likely doesnt go back past the mid 70’s, thats sure to be one very interesting lawsuit case if it comes to that now isnt it…I dont think so…

This kinda reminds me when OJ Simpson threatened to sue the Florida Orange Growers Assoc, claiming that only he had the right to market the letters OJ, it was laughed right of court.

But Vic, That is almost like questioning the world’s oldest profession’s entitlement to the title. Now apart from that, there’s little sense in questioning or researching history until the forenoon of April 1, 2008; when such weighty matters are appropriate to be considered again. In short the statute of limitations expired as of 12:00:00:001 aka High Noon (no, definitely not the movie!) today, at which local time the World reverted back to “normal” - whatever that may be in any of the various time zones! BTW if it is any consolation, according to the custom in Switzerland (and perhaps other locales) those who have been fooled on April Fool’s Day are permitted to return on May First when additional pranks are in order for those who missed the first round. Expanding on the “factualities”, LGB was just a glint in the Richter’s eyes prior to 1968   ; the likelihood of the “We are LGB” proclaimers suing for their rights (or rites) is fairly remote. In some circles it’s “Beware the Ides of March!”, in others it’s “Watch out for April Fool’s Day”.

A few years ago, when I was starting in the hobby, I went to www.lgb.com … I did get the Lesbians, Gay, and Bisexual web site… very surprising… Since then the train company bought it thankfully.

I live in California, this group does exist here, and with the plethora of completely stupid press conferences we get on a daily basis (ever hear some of PETAs stupid brainless comments like bees are slave labor and honey should be boycotted?), so this one was completely beleivable, April 1 or not…

I still think it would be a hilarious courtroom in a lawsuit…one side a bunch of stuffy stiff Germans and their humorless unsmiling lawyers, on the other, well, ever driven down Castro Street in S.F. ?

Oh My!
