Think About This One!

It is short but very interesting!

A car company can move its factories to Mexico and claim it’s a free
Market.

A toy company can out source to a Chinese subcontractor and claim it’s
A free market.

A shoe company can produce its shoes in south east Asia and claim it’s
A free market.

A major bank can incorporate in Bermuda to avoid taxes and claim it’s
A free market.

We can buy HP Printers made in Mexico .

We can buy shirts made in Bangladesh .

We can purchase almost anything we want from 20 different countries
But…
Heaven help the senior citizens who dare to buy their prescription
Drugs from a Canadian pharmacy.

That’s called un-American! And you think the pharmaceutical companies
Don’t have a powerful lobby?

Thi nk again!

Forward this to every person you know over age 50. It is an interesting
Thought.

Forget the 50, send it to everyone. We’re all in this boat together!

Even if you aren’t in this boat now, you’re standing on the pier .

Would the examples you mention all have substantial labour costs?
Are they going where they are going for the lowest cost labour, which can be exploited the easiest?

The manufacture of drugs is virtually fully automated and requires very little labour?

Marvin, Why would I do that? I already live in the country that offers reasonable social services. I made a very careful and well researched choice in the late '60s, emigrated to Canada and have been very happy with my choice. The longer I’m here the better I like my choice, since I keep up with what’s happening in the “also ran” category on the list. You know in German there’s a saying “One can’t be careful enough about choosing one’s parents!”

That applies manyfold to choosing a country.   We have some “wackos” up here who think the American model is superior, you should write to them. (References on request!)

Thank you George Dubya.

Oh, you want to hear another good one. I get my medical from the VA. I have to pay a co-payment on my perscriptions of $8…most of which is available at Walmart for $4.

I guess that is why Canadians make a run for the border when they need medical attention now, not in 6 - 18 months.

At least you did something for your country, Switzerland…you moved!

Thank you George Dubya.

Better check the Democrat voting record in Congress on this measure before you throw stones. They talked a good talk, but stopped it cold before it had a chance to get to Dubya for signature.

I know because I read the Congressional Daily every day.

Marvin,

Ahhh, you are so funny.

Of course you realize that I still hold a Swiss passport and every once in a while get complimented on being an unofficial Swiss ambassador?

Did a few things to advance the Swiss cause in Canada, all of it highly official. None of that clandestine stuff one doesn’t dare mention.

Ah, so you did not take up Canadian citizenship upon the migration…so are you an illegal?

The Swiss have a cause? This I’ve got to hear!

Oh you must not have seen Hillary’s Video with the Plan to Nuke Switzerland upon her Coronation…then you will be Ambassador to Ash & Rubble.

But Marvin, are you familiar with the concept of dual citizenship? No problem to have a Swiss and a Canadian passport and believe it or not, neither country asks you to have a split personality. Isn’t that something!! Oh yeah, of course I’m the “Swiss Chocolate Ambassador”, like to eat it and share it freely.

I’ve seen the World from stem to stern…across and back…up and down…and have NEVER seem any reason to be a citizen of any other country…no how…no way. I do know Canada has become very popular with Muslims…who seem to have a problem getting visitation rights to the U.S. You weren’t connected with the Bader-Meinhoff Group now were you? Your views at times certainly seem inline with that phun groupen.

Yo H-J - Just want you to know that I too have a ‘share’ in the ‘Old Country’.

When we were allowed to have handguns here, both my wife and I had a Haemmerli 208 Olympic target pistol each - mine had a left-handed grip.

I had a SIG P220, P226, P228, and a P230, and a presentation SIG P210 with three alternative calibres.

I STILL have - A K11 Schmidt-Rubin carbine made in 1913, a K31 carbine made in 1954 and a Haemmerli target rifle made in 1988.

As well as my small collection of Swiss wristwatches…

And here I am with a Canadian Citizenship and a collection of old marbles…not even the good old “Allys” with the neat colours going through the glass; just plain old marbles.

I’m figuring on submitting my DNA to the people who decide on who Annie-Nichol’s daughter’s father is. I figure It might be me, as for a while I didn’t know where I was, or who I was with…I figure on sending the kid to live in Switzerland, at some home, while I invest her money in stocks of my railroad.

Hmm. Let's say you get your wish and everyone in America can buy all their meds from Canada. How long do you think the Canadians would be willing to subsidize our purchases? I bet they'd put a stop to it pretty darn quick if large numbers of people were doing it.

What you are suggesting is called "spam", and there's too much of that on the 'net already.

Canadians subsidizing pharmacy purchases…I think it’s the other way around and that’s the problem. The pharmacuticals are selling to Canada at dirt cheap and then gouging us for the profit.

Isn't that called free enterprise?

Fortunately we also have some degree of price control on medicinal drugs in Australia as well.
Although our current government would dearly like to get rid of all controls and have open slather for gouging by the drug companies too.
A couple of years ago the Australian Government agreed to a free trade agreement with the USA. Removal of all price controls on drugs was supposed to be part of the deal until the then leader of Her Majestys loyal opposition, Mark Latham, put a stop to those provisions.

I have a problem with free enterprise gouging the sick, infirm and elderly. They have enough problems as it is.

This is an interesting thread.

For those of us in the states, we can always put our opinions to a vote.

Jon.
