The Wine Train

I see some are upset about Stimulus Money being spent for helping the California Napa Wine train line.

Now I would like to know when I might expect the Govmt to give me some of that money for the restoration of Noble Fir Logging & Railroad line to nowhere?

I suppose I shouldn’t hold my breath eh?

The wine train is a very very big tourist draw to the Napa region, besides you really dont want to be around some of them Winophiles if they can’t get their drink on. :open_mouth:

Brian Nothing is "high Speed’ around here !!!

Hmmm? what about the failed wine trains in the Finger Lakes area of NY state? Or the Niagara Wine regions or the NW Pa wineries off Lake Erie? Hmmmm? We tend to buy local wines thanks!

Chas

The government will have to “study” that!

Read what it is carefully. The money went to river control in the area, which included track re-routing. Not to the train itself.

Oh, Garrett, it makes a much better story the other way!

I was on the phone with a friend with the Army Corps, he said there have been concerns about the river in that area for years.

We were in Quartzsite, Ariz., last week and got 7 inches of rain. The normally dry wash behind our travel trailer was running three feet deep. We could have used the Army Corp!

Don't forget that the Army Corps of Engineers are the same bunch of Government civilians and Army officers that let New Orleans get screwed with the lack of dam and levee work before Katrina hit.

“Trust Me–I used to work for the government”

They had stated for years that the New Orleans area was in danger of flooding…no one listened.

After the storm was the time to pull the plug on certain sections of New Orleans that should never have been built upon in the first place. If you want to build a home in a flood plane fine go ahead and do it. Just don’t ask the corp of engineers who are paid by our federal tax dollars to put in flood controll so you can build. Same thing goes for ocean front property that is prone to flooding and beach erosion. I for one am tired of all the beach replenishment programs our taxes are paying for so someone can sit and look over their private beach front.

Maybe I'm wrong--but wasn't the Corps of Engineers and the local governments obligated to up grade the stuff for worst case scenerio?

New Orleans has been uder sea level since before the war of 1812 with out these problems.
