Large Scale Central

The very slowly progressing, CJSRR

On the afternoon of August 17th, the Calm Springs Railroad was completed…atleast for the time being.

The completed western tunnel entrance.

The mainline looking east. The houses are on load from a friend and the two-tone mulch wasn’t planned for. I was hoping to having a couple more plants but cashflow is always tight in the summer. Like Disneyland, it will never be truly finished especially when I see room for expansion and improvements.

Cool. That's Phase I................looking forward to Phase II ;) Ralph

Track is looking good CL - Now we need pictures of some trains running

Nice. Its always good to get something down and run trains. Then you can add as time permits but at least you can run. Thats always been my thing.

I decided to start the process of removing part of the ramp for a nice appearance.

Another view also showing the Aristo Passenger Station and improvements to the mainline.

An overview taken Today to compare to less recent ones. Also the blue-gray box will house the new USA Trains Train Power 10 and the second post will be for a bench in the future.

Looks much better without the boards. Def more natural. Nice work.

Looking good CL

First off, Winter brought us some nice snow.

I recently added a handle and latch to the train door to give a third hand(hold the door open), it make running trains ALot easier.

I purchased a 20’ tank car to drag my track cleaning pad, a Fruit Growers Express boxcar and worked for a bobber caboose to the rolling stock collection.

I removed the power box as it had condensation problems. Power supply is now inside the train barn within reach of the train door.

The track inspector found the outer rock wall collapsed this morning, track was inspected and only one tie has “damaged” in the slide. I am looking at rebuilding both rockwalls, replacing the Mexican Heather(as I believe it to be dead) and repairing the tie. Track inspector determined that the track is safe for track speed, no slow orders. Of course, track speed on the Calm Springs Railroad is a calm speed anyways. Our crews say “Nothing is better than pulling freight at low speed while waving at the railfans and stopping for cookies at Mrs. Beerich’s house.”

Could you give us directions to Mrs Beerich’s house?

New route for the ramp lead, retaining walls will also be built. The trestle will lead into the building.

The trestle has been painted brown to look more like wood.

The pile of dirt will become a grade crossing for foot traffic, rock walls will end at the crossing. The other side will be brick wall.

Overview of the progress this week. The 4x4 are being reused to support the track until the retaining walls are built around them. I will then backfill with dirt and ballast.

Over two years later and my garden has grown alittle.

Looking great

Yes it has. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
