The tale of two bridges

Old road ! I guess those are ruts that looked like rail in the Google street view.
9’ 4 " clearance is real low.

Are you going to model the bridge at the proto length?

I’ll have to get up to Saluda,NC and take some pictures of a very cool old Southern overpass. The road goes through about a 50 foot single lane tunnel under the track.
The tunnel is very low and narrow. A full size van is about the biggest vehicle that will fit through. A creek runs underneath the road/tunnel. Back in the 1920’s it was the main highway.

Hey!!!
Golf clap for Dave!!! Much better pictures…now lets see the progress on modeling it!
You get those dormers on the station yet!

Ralph, The bridge is being used as a basis for two places where my second loop will cross over the first loop. So no it will not be proto length, but longer.
The tunnel you mention reminds me of the B&O tunnel under Baltimore that runs from now ‘Camden Yards’ to the old B&O pass station now an art museum? that has height restrictions. One mile of tunnel built for the 1800’s rail traffic and would be a monster to raise or lower for todays needed clearances.

Dave, No this bridge doesn’t get dormers although I have thought of an eyebrow on each side to keep tabs on things

The two bridges flipped to show top and bottom. Now to work on the walkway as seen on the westside of the original

I’m trying to get in your mind with this build but I cannot…
I’m trying to use “The Force” but all the Jedi Knights are retired and currently not training due to the economy.

Does that mean I’ll have to borrow your alumunium foil for head protection

Yes....but depending on which head your trying to cover or protect means I probably won't want it back.

Is this bridge done yet?

Sitting on site waiting for road crew to finish the fill and abutments. Weather has been giving crews a fit this season
