You could always use an old boxcar or something as a wood storage shed.

i disagree.

the wood burned by a company like this, would be fresh, not dried wood from the felled trees.

probably mostly branches and crooked wood.

who would care, to protect this kind of byproduct?

Well…have you ever tried throwing a rain soaked branch into a fire? It steams and smokes and smells awful, especially inside of a building.

Hate to say it but those boys are slackers! That’s all they cut and split in a day?

Dan Markoff’s Eureka consumes a LOT of wood, (see YouTube videos) and maybe your little tea kettles would be more fuel efficient but you’ll need lots more for your lumber company to keep operating. I agree with Korm that the wood would be cut and consumed as fast as it is processed so covered storage is probably not necessary.

yes, i have - often.

for smoking beef, freshly cut and green wood are best.

edit: but we did not smoke meat in the livingroom…

Just the pile for cooking the squeezings is covered, an even heat is a must!

I thought that woodpile was for the stove in the engine barn. If its for the locomotives, then yes, they would be throwing the slash into the firebox, no matter if it was wet or dry.

It is getting hot here in Clarksville Tennessee. To beat the heat I head to the air conditioned train shed out in the back yard. A great way to feel even cooler is to plant some “winter trees” on the micro layout.

Over on the “Rail Camp” side of the mini layout Big Boss Man is showing off his latest creation shoe horned in to the RC Campus.

For the enjoyment of his hard working crew he has put in a “two holer” facility.

Thanks for the nice note.

I asked Big Boss Man to climb up on the water tank to get some views of the tank bands.

The bands are self adhesive strips (like automobile pin stripes) that are provided in the Banta Model Works kit.

I painted them with acrylics and then applied them using a nifty template,also supplied with the kit.

The band “tighteners” are painted castings from the kit affixed to the bands with ACC glue.

Larry started out his LP life as a Woodland Scenics jack hammer operator. With a little work and some paint he was transformed in to Larry the Log Loader, the fireman on the vertical boiler Climax.

Larry looks more like a German Irish worker named Lamar or Cletus (PA Dutch) . Hard working man that went home to Anna for a good cornbeef and cabbage meal after a hard days work.
