Large Scale Central

The next generation

Hi folks
About a year ago, a friend of mine told me about one of his friend’s son’s who is interested in trains. The kid, one Tyler Trahan, produces a ‘newsletter’ about trains and stuff. I subscribed to it (its free), and I get one once in a while. This month he has a neat article on the tracks at Grand Central Station.

If you’re interested in giving the next generation of train nuts a bit of a lift, you can subscribe to it yourself by emailing him at [email protected]. He’s never sent me any crap besides the newsletter link.

Very interesting article. It reminded me that the CGT Lost & Found once saved my job. Many years ago I was managing a Radio Shack in Cos Cobb, CT and commuting from Danbury on Metro North. RS Managers are required to file daily report paper work with proof of night deposit with the district office. Failure to prove a timely night deposit was grounds for immediate dismissal. I was never one for paperwork, so when it piled up I’d take it home in the evening to organize for mailing at home. On one of these occasions I forgot a plastic bag with the paperwork on the train. When I realized it my heart sunk. I was sure it went out with the trash when the train was cleaned. The next morning I rode in to GCT and went to Lost & Found and described my plastic bag full of papers. Within minutes they produced the bag with all contents intact. What a relief

Thanks Bob, that is an excellant article and newsletter.

I think the kid has promise. I subscribed to his newsletter.

Thanks for that, Bob! I dropped the lad an eMail - hope he maintains his interest.

I just subscribed too.
