The new reality

Hi all,

Ahhhhh, sure looks like it’s starting to sink in.

So, uh, six months ago we tried to let him in on it, but all we got was “wait until next week”.

After all his verbal support of RR&Co one would think he would have gotten the message, but, alas, not.

Does he know any of the reasons behind the lack of US prototype production?
How about the lack of a current signed distribution agreement?

One of these days he’s gonna take off the blinders and rose-colored glasses at the same time and “POOF!” he’s gonna see.

Wonder how McMoron will take it?

Doesnt that message violate the “no criticism of the sacred cow” tenure of that forum, I wonder how long the post will last!

Ah, sacred cow. Roasted, broiled, fried. Yummy.

Young Chris; You have been away or something…Good that you have returned. You were missed

Nope. Can't afford to go away :( Lurked for a while, since I had little to contribute (well, even less than usual to contribute). Nattering noobs on the news were muttering about gasopetroline going up to $1.50 a litre this summer (that's a bit under $6.00 a US gallon for you non-metriculated types)

The new reality must have hit hard.

Check out this thread. Of special interest are the posts by “jack21771” (aka Jack Lynch, Marketing/Sales Mgr at LGBoA). From what I read LGBoA will be signing an agreement just as soon as Märklin offers the terms LGBoA is looking for.  Absolutely priceless, but not unexpected!

I (thought) I read on the LGBoA site that they had a agreement. Could be wrong.

Geoff, they wish they would have an agreement. Chances are they wish a little more fervently with each passing day, but it’s a funny thing …

… when the producer stipulates the terms, they are usually his terms. And if the buyer/distributor thinks he can get the same exact items somewhere else then the buyer/distributor buys from there. Please note according to the last “News” LGBoA is still negotiating. An additional note: the agreement that was signed in 2007 applied for the balance of 2007. Same deal for all distributors worldwide!

There were those who didn’t believe it when the fact was mentioned, there are those who still believe that LGBoA will be able to get a similar “Sweetheart deal” as they were able to swing with EPL Patentwerk oHG in the past.

Well, well, well LGB® Märklin isn’t EPL Patentwerk oHG; OTOH Märklin seems to remember the former owners of EPL Patentwerk rather well. Makes me wonder how that would influence the LGBoA/Märklin negotiations, hmmmmm … let’s see???

Hans thank you for clearing that up for me. I did not know the agreement was only for the balance of 2007. I wish they would get things work out as well. I understand business and how it can take time. I know when I sold my business it took months to get the deal all worked out and 10 years later both sides still feel they could have done better. Well as my dad always said, “thats business son”.

Anyway, here is a question. and PLEASE I DON’T WONT A TO CAUSE TRUBLE. But Marklin has dealers in the USA, my hobby shop I deal with sells Marklin as well as LGB. Why couldn’t makrlin use what they have in place? Is it because LGBoA bought the rights to the LGB for in America? Or is it something more? I only ask because I am still very new to all this. Only been into large scale trains for a year now and I kow some of you have been doing it for a long time and know way more then me. Again its not to start a fight or piss anyone off so please don’t think I’m being a jerk or anything like that.

Hoooooooo-eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Now McMoron has waded in with a “thou shalt not”.

Oh, and don’t you just love it when some of the old guard tells folks they don’t know what’s going on?

How long have we heard that, and when the truth becomes print, find out we did know exactly?

Deny and obfuscate…

McMoron the clueless!

uuuuuuuuu-eeeeeeeeuuuuuu… and I already thought that we would see some of these McMoguls on the ebay soon http://archive.mylargescale.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=22341 ;-)) Zubi

Zubi,

Last I read was “the multitude is for spares” (paraphrasing!), which is interesting since “those engines are much, much more reliable and can’t be worn out.” (also paraphrasing)

Vic,

Be a good sport, post “Barbrady” in full height. It’s hard to compare “features” with just the upper body showing.

Hello Howard! Good to see you too! Best wishes, Zubi

Hey Howard, how’s it going? Long time no hear!

Sooooo what do you (in your capacity as astrologer) think of the goings on or rather lack there of??? Is the Nancy Ridge crew going to weather the storm or are they going to move???

Who would have believed any of it two years ago when the industry grape vine was a-flutter with “doesn’t look good at EPL Patentwerk” items of various kinds? Then as now “mums the word” unless the stuff is in the public domain i.e. the German papers do some more digging in different corners. You just never know what pops up next, do you?

Hope you’re keeping well! No complaints in this corner North of the Border.

Hello Howard -

Welcome to LSC - Where nobody notices an upgrade until Bob hits us over the head with it ! I think you’ll like it here, so long as you can put up with some of our more colorful folk  Many of us migrated her from that other place quite a while ago.
