Large Scale Central

The mine

Very nice John. Like Bruce; I hope it fits through the door!

Reminds me of Dave McCurdy’s Jigstone roundhouse. It was huge; weighed a ton and built in a downstairs room. It did make it out to the layout but he never shared how he got it through the door and up the stairs :]

dang, his photos are motivating me to get started on my mine structure again.

A little more progress.

Nice mine. Did you find gold?

Little more done this week.

Wow looking great John

John, nice work…

Gonna need 3 men and a gorilla to get that outside…

Nice work!

hmmm…
an outdoors layout seems to have its merits too…

that is just very, very impressive!

Lookin’ good JB

I took the plans for the Gold King Mine out of an old rr magazine and then rescaled them to

1:20.3. And the Gold King was a small operation. I changed a few things to make it fit better on my layout.

I’m glad I didn’t model the Pro Patria Mine. Can you imagine that box car as a 1:20.3 Accucraft.

Nice work John

Cool!

Ha that made me laugh.

Great looking mine thus far. Such an impressive structure. And I like your tipple/dump track too.

I thought I remember someone posting a picture here of their mine. It was probably on the scale of that picture John. I remember the guy standing next to it and it made him look small.

The barkeep from Alaska? His name has slipped away from me but it was a huge copper mine. Copper Center was either the name of the bar or the town. It was the Kennicot mine.

Wayne Spence has a big model of a mine.

I think his first name was Ron

Yep; Ron Simpson. Still around, at least on Facebook…
