Large Scale Central

The local shortline

I happened to hear this guy coming through town and grabbed my camera and went up the road to catch it on the way by.

Starts out near Wilmington DE, runs along the Brandywine River on the old Reading line to Chadds Ford, where there's a wye and it enters the old PB&W line to Rising Sun, MD. This one was headed to Oxford PA to drop the Bulkhead flatcars off at the PT wood plant, then on up to Nottingham, PA with the grain hopper to Herr's Snacks. I think the office is in Kennett Square.

The line runs about a half a mile away from my house. He probably started out down in DE about 6AM and it was noon time when he went by here.

Nice work Ken. I like the backwoods flavor.

Would that line be N,S,E or W from your place? …didn’t know it existed
