That’s quite a site and the locomotives #4141 represents him as the 41st President.
History of Presidential funeral trains:
Am currently watching the funeral train on videl from Yahoo and a couple different netwroks’ youTube channels. The number of peopleout watching it is something, and the rain isn’t stopping them.
I have watched it during the day also.
Recorded and watched most of today’s services and the procession to the train, and a lot of the train journey , very impressive looking train, very well done. The loco and the whole train photographed and videoed well against the dreary weather and winter countryside. I am guessing there will be an uptick in sales and new people to the hobby. At one point in the video of the helicopter was zoomed in on the last car, it looked so much like a video of a garden train.

That now has me wondering whether Tomar makes a Presidential tailsign drumhead like that one.
So, the UP 4141 was painted for Mr Bush some time ago, there are photos of him and Barbara getting a ride. My question is who else has a loco painted up for them?

You know that’s a good question. I think I’ll paint one up for myself on my model railroad! It’s a little spooky though if you ask me, getting your funeral train all worked up years before you die. Hmmmm.
Besides, nobody will ever top Lincoln’s funeral train, can’t be done.

No one, nameplates yes, like the Dwight Eisenhower locomotive in Britain. But no custom paint job I know of besides this one, in fact I am still unclear as to why this one was ever painted in the first place?
The man was in the Whitehouse for 16 consecutive years, 8 with Ron as VP, and 8 as POTUS

Possibly the answer to that lies here https://www.uprr.com/newsinfo/releases/heritage_and_steam/2005/1018_4141.shtml (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
When I think of funeral trains, I immediately think of Bobby Kennedy’s funeral train from New York to D.C. in June, 1968.

Me, too. Besides, Bobby’s train seemed spontaneous and it seemed real. To tell you the truth, I get the Bush love fest, but this whole Bush train thing seemed contrived, staged, more like a personal whim and a big advertisement for Union Paciifc.
Sorry in advance if this offends anyone.
Grab them before they are gone Uncle Harold says it’s allowed for an aid to model making but Satan says I don’t have a right to distribute them .
Note the wheel sets are wide enough for Broad or Standard gauge and this was posted for an AID OF MODELING PURPOSES ONLY

Yea, and in HO there are already models of that locomotive available. It strikes me as if the whole thing was planned, and then held in reserve until the time came.
