The Fat Lady Has Sung! LGB US distribution to be through

M.K. Walthers

drat

Confirms my worst fears about pricing and availability outside the Walthers realm, Now lets see how much coin they charge and what if any product makes it around the “Fort Walthers” distibution bulwarks.

So, what we’ve known for some time is now official.
Still another piece or two of the puzzle to be officially revealed.

And, the new head of North American sales, service and such for the LGB division of Wm. K. Walthers is a name well known to the LS and LGB community.

He did tell me it is for publication, but the “official” release won’t be until “next veek”, so, just until then, rest assured someone who knows what he is doing will be in charge.

More fodder for the rivet counters! Nuff said looks like another 18+ pager LOL

I confess this is lost on an ignorant Brit

Dave,
well it cannot be fat Tony or Dave, the publicist (as the person is actually talking to you), so that leaves the old gang out of the equation. Obviously someone east-coast based. Maybe Stan has switched allegiances? No, could not be, Stan is most likely not talking to you either. Now, who may it be? Maybe someone who has been instrumental in pushing MTZ at LGB seminars?

Actually, who ever it is, the product line is going to be expensive, as we all are aware of Walthers' pricing/marketting policies. Looks like eBay and the grey market will be the usual distributor, as per practice of late.

Well, No it isn't.

But I can hazard a guess that the doyen of the “old guard”, Marvin and his “aliases”, will be bitterly disappointed.

Tony

Let me quote from my recent email missive:

“Basically I’m just waiting for next week and the stunned look on some of the faces. Oh wait, what am I saying … they couldn’t be any more cluelessly stunned than they are already.”

Jerry .... don't miss out on your usual contributions, eh! One every second or third page, eh!

Oooops, yes that works, didn’t think it would. Hmmmmmmmmm a whole new set of them as long as I use the right routine!

No Smileys in the E mail I got but the message was pretty clear.

Tony,

Not to worry; having a small dish of salt on your desk solves the problem.  A grain of salt for minor missives, a pinch of salt for medium missives and however much it takes for News from your “most favourite” correspondents.  And always let them know how much you enjoy their entertaining “whatever”. Everyone appreciates not being ignored.

A week is all it will be.

Just ask the ventilators.

Walthers as distributor of LGB may mean wholesale and therefore the pricing MAY not what we would pay retail vs. consumer ordering via their up-scale pricing flyer.

Any new information?

Wendell

Next week.

Perhaps we should just relax, wait and see what unfolds and then take it from there. IMO it isn’t likely that Märklin will paint itself into a corner and then waits 'til the paint dries.

Anyway I’m looking forward to the RhB flatcars and a few other goodies. :stuck_out_tongue: BTW I also order Kiss items, I’m used to waiting.

I still \o/

Yes! I have been waiting for those flatcars since I first got wind of them being made. That was like what, 2 or 3 years ago!?

The flatcars, and the PTT and CooP container’s will pretty much complete what I want. After that, any expansion of my fleet will likely have to shift to KISS, or Walther’s depending on what thier pricing is. I think I may have painted myself in a corner chosing to build a RhB based layout…
