The end of my railroad

Hi guys,
We have sold our house and the end is nigh. A couple of weeks ago I made this video of my railroad, knowing it would be going away soon. Enjoy:

Cool layout Matt. How did you make your telegraph poles and what did you use for the insulators?

Quite a bit of that video looks like a video from a 1:1 railroad. Impressive! Wish I could have seen it in person.

Sad to see another great railroad go away, great video though
Good luck with your future plans, hope they include a railroad that you will share here.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for sharing the video! So bittersweet to finally see the layout in action knowing the end is near. Always loved seeing photos of your layout for years. I seem to recall your winning many a monthly photo contest!
What’s next??

Being about a month ahead of you in the process, I know how you feel. Your photos with the mountain vistas were always the best! I will miss them, but you can always post some unpublished oldies in the future!

Today I packed the last of the track, locos and cars on my RR. Still lots left to pack though!

Good luck with your move.

Thanks Bill. The telegraph poles are 3/8" poplar dowels. Insulators are 3D printed by a friend with a light green filament. The poles are a HUGE PITA, requiring a lot of maintenance. But I do like the look of them strung out along the track.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Rick. This place has a little over two acres, but the next one has 14. I am currently in negotiations with Her Grace as to where and how much railroad will be built.

Hi Jon,
We are only moving 2.5 miles to the north, so the mountain views will be pretty much the same.

Now, off to dig out all of those rolling stock boxes!

Cheers,
Matt

I never realized how much track you had down. Will be impatiently waiting for version 2.0.

Did/Do you keep all your trackside details outside 24/7?

Yep, all that stuff lives outside all of the time.

Cheers,
Matt
