Yep, 58 minutes late and seeing the monster train ahead of it gave enough of an explanation. The usual CN Rail game when it comes to passenger traffic.
The surprise was the third engine up front; someone tried to tell me that it was a long consist. Hmmmm … yeah, yeah and there’s a bridge for sale in Brooklyn.
Our berths were in “Allan Manor”, second to last car which was the dome/observation “Revelstoke Park” complete with a bar under the Dome section and some very fancy cabins forward of that. All of it newly refurbished, very nice job … except the dampers on the rear truck seemed to be on the weak side already. Turnouts, level crossings, bridges and undulations in the track would result in a solid BANG.
BTW the seats in the dome were very popular, but getting there early in the morning secured a spot e.g. for the glorious sunrise over the prairies.
