back in the mid-60’s I had an uncle who ran a three-rail (stud contact) Marklin railroad in ‘h.o.’ scale. I recall seeing my first ‘bullet train’ model back then. I cannot remember who made it but my uncle only had three-rail (stud contact), so assumed that it was made by Marklin. This set my fervour for the bullet train and it is the original (now outdated), that still inspires my imagination. After the war, my uncle professed to never buy a German product and yet, only a few years later discovered that if he wanted quality he had to eat his words - he had Marklin trains an a VW Kombi.
Tim, Thanks! That is a precious piece of info. I will try to find out if Maerklin made the bullet train back then. Actually, I just found out that LIMA also made a 0-series HO Shinkansen too! Best wishes, Zubi
