The big Christmas Eve snowstorm has shut down operations on the Elk River & Idaho RR. An inspection of the bridges and trestles showed they are still standing after 25 or so scale feet of snow.

We have had more snow in the last week than all of last year. That’s good for our next years fire season. But bad for my next years high country explorations. Snow will be on the trails until July.
You could box some of that up and send it out East. I was cleaning leaves off the tracks today and broke out in a sweat. When they said it was going to be muggy today I thought “how muggy can it get in December”. Ah, I am enjoying the nice spring weather in the Steel City. And my Parka is hung up in the closet, keeping its hanger warm.

I’ve got 58 scale feet of snow on the Chumstick River and Tumwater Canyon Ry Co. If I felt like schlepping through the snow, I’d provide a photo. I don’t.
