Tonight I finally got time to start putting everything back together after the move. The track is relaid and wired, and the scenery is partially rebuilt, but I haven’t actually tried to run a train…yet The new space was a bit wider than the old, so I took everybody’s advise and expanded. Here is the new extension under construction. plans call for a coal mine/(very) small breaker at the end of the spur. The farm will go in the corner since I had to evict it to put in the turnout.
Some of you may remember I asked a while back about a discount source for the $40+ '34 Ford 1-1/2 ton stake body truck… I scored a 2007 Lennox Heating promotional version for about $10 plus shipping (woohoo!!!) After painting over the Lennox badging I think it looks real nice…as a bonus it came with a nice diecast Lennox coal furnace, which will be painted rust colored and placed in the trash heap behind the general store.
I also got a '35 Chevy Snap-On 1-1/2ton panel truck for about the same price as the stake bed (both arrived just today). Both vehicles are Crown Premiums items. Unfortunately they make my other cheap diecast cars look, well… cheap.
School is back in session, plans call for a handbuilt swingset for the playground since I can’t locate one that I like.
