THE 2010 AMERICAN INVASION OF OTTAWA

Each year since 1998, the Ottawa Valley GRS has invited their American friends to operate their trains in Ottawa during an annual event that has come to be known as The American Invasion of Ottawa.

A pictorial of the first two days of this year’s event have been posted on the Ottawa Valley GRS web site. There almost 100 pictures spread over 5 pages for you to enjoy.

The first day was a narrow gauge steam up on at Doug Matheson’s Northland Railroad.

The second day was more narrow gauge operations on Fred Mills’ Ironwood, Peter’s Pond and Western Railway.

Pictures of the standard gauge operations on Day 3 should be posted by Wednesday.

Thanx, Paul…and great story…

WOW! Paul, a great gallery which, I know, will take a while to properly look at. Many thanks for the link and the OVGRS input.

Welcome, Paul!

Great pics and a great way to re-live the event. Please tell Chris that he did a very nice job with those pictures.

I want to go back!

Hey Paul, glad you finally found your way over here. Grab your favorite beverage out of the fridge and hang out for a while.

Thanks Bob! Having registered on October 2nd, 2000; it was about time to make a post. I haven’t seen you during an “Invasion” since 2005.

The photos that are currently available of the standard gauge operations on the third day of The 2010 American Invasion of Ottawa have been posted on the Ottawa Valley GRS web site. http://www.ovgrs.org As you can tell by the smiles on their faces, those that attended this year’s event had a good time.

Thank you to all the “Invaders” that made the journey to Ottawa! Your friendship is what makes this event so great. A special thank you to our hosts Doug Matheson, Fred Mills and the others who make this annual large scale party a success.

It is so great to see such a gathering of so many wonderful, friendly people engaging in a fun hobby together. You are an inspiration and set a fine example for the world at large as well as for the hobby.

Thanks to those who took the time to post the photos of this event.

Thanks for the link and pics

Ahhh yes the famous picture of Bob doing his Joe Cocker impression, Bruce talking about who know’s what and Ken watching Sesame Street on his mini DVD player. Notice the smirk …Oscar or Cookie Monster must be on !

The pictures are great.
The “Invasion” is way up on my ever growing wish list.

Geeze - he finally sobered up  When I saw him in the 70’s he was so loaded he was puking on stage during every song. We actually went to see Focus who was his opening act.

I saw Cocker in 77 or 78. It was an old grand theater with a balcony. He was fantastic. The stage lights would go off between songs and Joe would be staggering around. The lights would come up, and he’d step up to the mic and wouldn’t miss a beat.

So you went for a little Hocus Pocus
