Andy C and I attended the 19th Annual Toy Truck’n Construction Show in Indy, yesterday. Attendance was way down. We think because of the economy. Andy purchased a few goodies, I bought a shopping bag, two pencils and a button. It was still a Great day!

I suspect we’ll see a picture of a shopping bag, two pencils and a button
lmaoooooooooooo, Bruce, you got it…
We both forgot to take any cameras…
Thanx - I got given a bunch of Liebherr truck-mounted cranes and a BIG hydraulic excavator shovel plus a few odds and sods a while back, mostly made by Conrad and SIKU.
The big humungous SIKU crane was on my filing cabinet when I was a working boy, now it’s in a box under a spare bed - great pity really because me and ig love big cranes - just got noplace to show them off in our little mud hut by the stream… :=(

Ric and Andy-
I would appreciate any information you have as to good brand-names for a detailed model of a Cat crawler tractor. My cousin had a D10 for construction – I’m interested in a Cat model crawler in that size range.
Northern Tool and Equipment catalogue shows CAT brand models scaled 1:50 in the $90 range.
Good quality and detail?
Is 1:50 tiny? The model need not be compatible with our garden layout. For me one 6-10" would be great.
Any data is appreciated.
Thanks,
Wendell
Wendell, Here’s a link to DHS Diecast with some dozers models in different scales…
http://www.dhsdiecast.com/shop/search_results.cfm?category_id=17
I am not solicting for this dealer, only to show you a listing of some of what’s available and different manufacturers…
Some 1/50 scale dozers are as large as some 1/16 dozers, dependng on the type/style of dozer… I am not an expert on any of them, so can only provide you with some very basic information…
If you want the tracks on the dozer to last, I would recommend getting metal tracks, vs rubber tracks… Make, model size and style is all a personal choice…
I am surprised that the ““Toy Trucker”” website does not have a links area…
Hope any of this helps you…
…so…no button picture?
I figure, we got a deal, a bag, two pencils, and a button for 5 bucks…

I have a Norscot D8 in 1/50th scale - it is slightly more than four and one half inches long. For a scenic ‘representation’ of a D8 you’ll need to be in at least 1/24th scale, and if you are modelling in 1/20.3 you can keep it in the background someplace. Norscot models are definitely not toys, but serious and very finely detailed scale models usually seen as part of architectural models, hence the rather odd [to us] scale of 1/50th rather than 1/48th [US 0 scale], 1/45th [German 0 scale] or the far more common 1/43rd [British 0 scale and the scale of the majority of die-cast miniature vehicles.
AFAIK there is no ready-to-eat model in 1/24th, 1/22.5 or 1/20.3 of any modern cralwer, but Ertl make a modle of an older type in 1/16th - a model that has been extensively worked over into a superb flat-car load by one of our members, and posted some time ago on the other forum of which some of us are still members.
In kit form and many moons ago, AMT made a very fine 1/25th plastic kit of a civilian D8H with a rear ripper, but I believe it was withdrawn after a bit of a licensing tussle over the use of the Caterpillar yellow colour - rather like UP and model trains. You might find one now on *bay, but you’ll have to paint the thing yourself.
Here’s one now - http://cgi.ebay.ph/AMT-Caterpillar-D8H-Bulldozer-Factory-Sealed_W0QQitemZ180399067723QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2a009f524b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 - price is currently about $22.00…
Mine is a load on a Bachmann railflat and part of an MoW train consist.

Hello Folks I’ve been lurking here for awhile but never got around to podting anything. I’m fairky new to the train thing. I have a small G scale in the bck yard, but I have been building 1/24-1/25th scale models for years. I have picked up a few diecast dozers as well as the AMT D8 over the years. I thought that this would be a fine time to join in.

Andy Clarke said:Times are changing. I remember a electrical trade show in San Franciso that some of us that were working as electricians at Fort Ord cira 1990 were sent to. Checked in and they paid me 20 bucks cash to complete a short survey and we all left with shopping bags full of free stuff. Only problem was the models in mini skirts would not come back with us in our government van.
I figure, we got a deal, a bag, two pencils, and a button for 5 bucks... :)
Whats this got to do with toys…I don’t have the foggiest.

Yeah Carl, Welcome here. I’m kind of new here myself and my mouth overloads my butt at times I Like your collection. I don’t quite recall how I got started doing it and even why but I’ve been accumulating toys for say since 2003 now. I accumulate (collect) forklifts in 1:24 and 1:25. Got 25 of them on shelves in my home office. I’ve got Tonka Toys of the vintage nature on shelves all over our garage that hasn’t been a garage since 1996. More of a warehouse and a wash room for the wife and I. I’ve got Bruder toys on shelves inside of the big garage door that don’t open no more. I’ve got die cast 1:24 and 1:25 modern from the 50’s cars and pickups on shelves all over the place. Got more stored in the attic in the garage. It just dawned on me that I must have a compulsion to accumulate. Not only that but I collect Kalamazoo Toy Train rolling stock along with Aristo Napa Valley rolling stock not to run but just to display. Not to mention a fetish I have for Yukon and White Pass rolling stock. I need to become an ebay seller and start letting this stuff go before I go My wife keeps on asking what in the heck is she suppossed to do with all my stuff if I go before her. I’m on a tangent here so let me quit.
Carl, welcome to LSC. You will find that we are a different lot. Bart has the coffee on, grab a chair by the fire and join in.
Surely, you can find a use for those fine machines out on your layout?
