My son Jeremiah just got promoted to Petty Officer First Class (E6)! He was the only one in his deployed detachment who was promoted, this cycle. As I understand it, only 15 in the whole squadron were promoted this cycle. He is a superstar, a “water walker.” I could not be more proud (do you see the buttons popping off my shirt?)! He is on the fast track for promotion to Chief Petty Officer.
Jeremiah is on his third Persian Excursion, matching the record of his ol’ man.

Years ago I had a job on a maintenence crew at a very very big office building/complex. The boss was a Navy vet and he staffed his crew with ex Navy–a lot of chiefs. What a great bunch of guys they were–tough, competent dependable, and smart

Congratulations Steve, pass on your knowledge of holding a coffee cup and he’ll make the grade. I’m sure your buttons are popping. Tell him thanks for his service and that goes for you and Momma, too! We know the experience of being on the home front. 
Can you believe it, he’s not really a coffee drinker. That may hold him back. I may have to teach him how to fake it.
