Large Scale Central

Thanks per post ratio

The real importance of what Greg has calculated isn’t the ratio. i.e. a new person could make one post, get “thanked” and be at 1.00 = the highest ratio possible.

What I find of interest is that four names appear in both top ten lists:

Bob McCowan - not surprising, but a statistical anomaly since he is the creator and owner of the forum and many of his posts and “thanked” are a reflection of that unique position.

That leaves three mere mortals:

Rooster

Dave Maynard

Jon Radder

Meaning if you post a lot and receive a lot of thanks (regardless of ratio) you are certainly a significant benefit to the forum. IMHO (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

One other thought. Names that are not in the “Thanked” top ten list that I would expect to see based on their participation and great respect in the forums:

Dave Taylor

Ray Dunakin

Dennis Rayon

Andy Clarke

John Caughey

Kevin Strong

Ric Golding

Todd Haskins

are you sure about that?

what is, if that newbee gets two thanks for his first post?

Korm, Korm, Korm …Korm, Korm, Korm. I am just a simple caveman. Your modern math frightens and confuses me. I will let the 20 pound brains debate anything in excess of 100%.

What about Steve?

Uh oh, making it personal…

Boomer, I’m flattered, but I don’t belong on that list.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

Now if you have one for being a ‘thorn in the side’, then maybe.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

You already did that with this post which matters not!

However that is just my opinion

So the guy that asked “what about Steve” did not make it personal, but my comment did?

Rooster, you slay me.

Honestly Greg

I do not think anyone made it personal other than the original poster. I’m just staying on topic after reading it twice as suggested.

but… but… but… I brought the shave to chat and you left

Randy old buddy!!!

Its just a few examples and not meant to be all inclusive. The fact that Steve is not in the top ten “Thanked list” is surprising. Along with probably fifty other people I did not put down. Maybe we should all be more responsive when we see a post we appreciate. That will encourage better content and less “Bumps for post count”.

My criteria for thanking people is this (in no particular order):

They make a sincere effort to help someone solve a problem. (+ Reputation)

Offer sound technical advice on electronics, construction, modeling techniques etc. (+ Reputation)

Provide significant historical information / research / pictures (+ Reputation)

Make a good natured joke that makes me laugh out loud when I read it

Post a build log / how too / event summary with pictures and explanation

Find a new and clever way to bust Rooster or Devon (I cannot over emphasize the importance of this one)

Share their secrets for making BBQ / pizza / beer

They are a Veteran and share something personal about their service (for my own reasons)

I never do - reputation although I have sent a few people my thoughts back channel on something they said.

One last thought. Greg’s thread has pointed out that counting posts is almost irrelevant. Maybe BD should change it to number of threads for which the person is the OP. ???

Yep, I agree about all that, especially the 2 points, busting rooster (giving Devon a medical pass) , and not even publishing post count.

Hi Greggy. So I figure someone else just downed your reputation because you just downed mine thinking it was me which it was not.
You are an expert at playing victim and doing what you accuse others of doing. In the past you even used this forum’s reputation system multiple times for payback the same day when you were put in your place at the other site.
That’s why the recent system at LSC was changed because of all the blubbering waves you created after I downed yours once for being a class A jerk. You manipulate things as narcissists do.
I could now down yours to prove it but I won’t because we are supposed to be nice to each other but you do make it near impossible.
I’ve done my own analysis and you rank the highest in the LOSER category. Ha ha ha! Fun and games… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)Have a nice day!

Nope, not only did I not down vote you, but have not down voted anyone in a long time, many months. I consider it cowardly and really ineffective. (I have though, recently up voted several people’s reputations)

And you have just reinforced my view, and I won’t even down vote you for your nasty post, revealing your true personality to the rest of the forum is helpful enough.

More people like you will poison this site and make people leave, just like what is happening to MLS (you can see people post less and less there, that is clear)

Greg

Well someone just voted me again and it wasn’t positive. There is no reason for anyone else to do that unless they are just playing on the side.
Your view is irrelevant. You are projecting again playing goody two shoes. There is only the truth and Bob can see all so who do you think you are kidding?
Maybe you didn’t. Whatever…

Why don’t you ask Bob? I’m sure he would LOVE to help you. He lives for this kind of thing.

I’ve lived with far worse, you are going to have to up your game to get under my skin, I don’t think you will make it, you are already upsetting yourself. I am the person here who could care less, and deems you irrelevant.

Let’s not mess up this thread any further… please start a new one somewhere else… if it makes you happy for me to respond because you live to have me as a target, I’ll accommodate you.

Greg

I don’t have you as a target Greg.
By the way, nice editing of your last few posts Greg. Getting emotionally flustered with your daily routines?
Bye bye!

Actually I’m not quite finished Greg. You haven’t denied what you did in the past with the reputation system. You just evaded the accusation by saying you haven’t down voted anyone’s reputation for many months.
Also I’ve never complained to Bob, that’s what you did back then nearly causing LSC to close. Demanding big changes because you are a control freak and I down voted your reputation once for being a jerk to someone else. That was some time after you used LSC reputation system as payback to me 3 times for something that happened at MLS. You even had the gall to post about the complaints to Bob at MLS as if it was a third person while all along it was you that caused all the grief. Anyone can check that now at MLS. You throw 3 rocks in bitterness because you got butthurt about not getting all the attention and I throw a pebble back and you go balling to mommy playing victim and twisting the truth. The acrimony! The acrimony! Waa! Waa! Waa!
If there is any one person that causes people to leave MLS it is clearly yourself. You have a history of it. I just tell it how it is and you say I’m being ‘nasty’. Pathetic!

Now back to your regular program...

Do we really need this? This kind of stuff is why I didn’t join MLS. Look Paradise, if you want to have this conversation with Greg, then please do it in PMs.

The real truth is we didn’t need this thread!
