I’ll second that. Bob knows how to moderate and he really respects free speech
Thanks guys. There are a few things going on that have me have the off-topic forum. I know that many of us like to wade into subjects BESIDES trains from time to time, and this area allows it to be separate from the rest of the site.
I DONT moderate the forums at all for various reasons. The primary one is that if I started to delete/edit/moderate posts, then I am responsible for the content of the posts. If I just let them be, and try and direct the conversation if it gets out of hand, then YOU are responsible for the content of the posts. This has a legal precedent, and, you know, I don’t want to get sued because of something one of you said.
Bob,
You have always run a very responsible and respectable site. It is truely the most friendly held together by a common bond of large scale trains. A good place to see how other people feel on subjects we differ on, but can be civil and respect each other’s view.
This is a fun place to hang out.
I’ll add my thank you as well. I stay away from the political blogs with the exception of following a few links posted here. The debate here has been enlightening and entertaining. Although heated at times, I don’t think it ever broke down to personal attacks.
Last night’s Boston Legal illustrated how friends with political differences can sometimes put those differences above a friendship. Alan and Denny pulled out paint ball pistols and had a shoot-out in the office after a heated argument about who was the better presidential candidate. Fortunately their friendship, like many of ours, can weather even major political disagreements. Later that day they shared scotch and a cigar as best of friends once more. I’m pretty sure that most of us will still be friends tomorrow regardless of who wins the election.
I just wish the LGB discussion had been so civil.
…and you even let me roam the site without twitching, when I start trying to herd the "twits’…!!! (Few twits around here to herd, but then that’s what my herding does for everyone !!!)

Paintballs, what a wonderful idea!
Ready on the right, ready on the left, ready on the firing line.
Commence firing!
Duck, Mike!
I wish to express my appreciation to Bob and to all the participants for their contribution and insight, even it they are wrong.

Only for those whose center of universe was located on Saganer Strasse or those who had so much money sunk in the stuff, way beyond the point of return.
I’ll add my “Thanks, Bob”, too. For all the reasons already mentioned.
"Commence firing!
Duck, Mike!"
The decision decided on this past weekend is that Mike is really a 93 year old women stuck in an assisted living facility with a computer and a bottle of Brandy.
…egads, I know the one…she calls me"Fredddddy", and throws empty Brandy bottles at me…!!!
She’s actually 97, and wants me to line her up with our Bobby…!!!
