Large Scale Central

Taking a stab at trestle installation

Continuing east on the El Patron branch. Note the “daylighted” tunnel and the engineering underway for the roadbed and bridge. (or the lack of) I am thinking of using simple concrete cinder blocks for the tunnel.

That’s what I used for mine and topped it with caps. And be sure to use black spray paint to darken the “view.”

went down the hill to Home Depot tonight and picked up some blocks, hopefully I can mess around with it tomorrow.

Doug, I tossed down a couple bricks to see what it will look like. I checked my clearances and will get the Krylon out as you suggested. I built the little bridge 20 years ago out of garden stakes and never did anything with it, guess it has a home now. since the tunnel is on a 6+% grade the bridge and dry creek under construction will keep the water out of the tunnel.

That looks just like my tunnel! The only problem I ran into the original tunnel worked until my Shay cleared by a quarter inch AFTER I lowered the track!

On my wood bridges I just use Thompson’s Water Seal once every six months.
