TAC's Northern Pacific SD-45 in Canoe Scheme

From Terry: "Betcha don’t see many of THESE around…

Track is nigh-on done - needs joining up with three bits of lift-off bridgy-type stuff and then ballasting… One of the bridges will be all metal for steaming up steamies… Boring ol’ track? Yup. But then, so am I. Paint job by Shawmut. Besp tac

hmmm, my recollection must be bad or the color off on my computer screen. As I thought the nose was gold not yellow…

Andre, I guess gold vs yellow is in the eye of the beholder.

How about we call it “weathered yellow” and be done with it?

Nice photos, guys!

Over here nobody has even heard of the Nothern Pacific RR, so I can get away with a slight mis-match. Mr Shawmut advised me that the brightness, like my own, would fade.

Neither have done so appreciably over the years…

Please allow me to draw you attention to page 19 of Dale Sander’s excellent book ‘The Northern Pacific’ where the original of my little loco can be seen outside the shop in St Paul.

Just thought you’d like to see it, is all. There ARE only two of them in the entire world - a visitor to the shop saw mine and just had to have one like it.

One of two. And yus, the track will not only be double - one for steam and one for sparkie/battery, but there will be an H0 track in the middle for H0 and 0n3...then I can run my big GN electrics with full-length trains.......as well as my three Empire Builder trains [S-2, E-1 and F7].
