Tortoise and Lizard Bash Garden Railroad (T&LBRR)
Saturday, June 14, 2014
1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.
Santa Ana, CA 92705, (e-mail me for address)
Todd and Linda Brody are pleased to invite you, your family, and your guests to the T&LB Garden Railroad. The railroad was the winner of the Garden Railways Magazine 2013 competition for garden railways and has been featured in numerous publications and videos. The landscape covers about 1,200 square feet with about 600 feet of track and six bridges, including a 14-foot long trestle. Using simple track power, the railroad can run itself fully automated with up to seven trains that slow and/or wait for each other as necessary to avoid collisions at crossing points.
The layout is built around two volcanic areas that spew into various lakes through waterfalls. The volcanoes also result in geothermal activity and the Chameleon Caverns hot springs area let the towns’ folk “take the waters” for both health and recreational activities. All vegetation is real and the miniature garden is completely to scale. The entire layout is detailed with dozens of structures, over 300 people and animals, cars, motorcycles, etc. all at a scale of ½ inch per foot.

New for 2014 are the passenger service operations between the new Lizard Lane loading platform and Alligator Lizards in the Air aerial tram. The Terrapin Tar Pits excavation, where dinosaur bones are being excavated while some of the finds have been modeled and put on display, and the Bear Whiz Beer Icing Facility are now in full operation. There may even be a visit from the local, loco cholos trying to hoist their beer on the townsfolk. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

well, due to the bad shape of the transamerican highway in central america, i won’t come for the open day.
but i really enjoyed the pics on your website.

do you leave all those buildings and figures outside, or do you take them in and out for sessions?

I have to bring most of the structures in before the first day of October and can’t put them back out until the first weekend in May because of the strong Santa Ana winds that we get. I live in the Santa Ana Canyon that the winds are named for.

The other day (April 30) they recorded a wind speed of 94 MPH in the canyon.

The wind dies on May 1 and won’t return (with fury) until Oct. I’ve put the structures out on April 29 only to have the winds kick up the next day.

Just a reminder of this Saturday.

Thanks.
