RJD, here in PA, at the state run service plazas, on the state run turnpike, they have machines that will take a penny and press it into a “keepsake” medallion for you. If that isn’t defacing and destroying currency I don’t know what is.
At Disney now it’s a quarter for a keepsake and $1 to press it.
