Switch stand lanterns

I would like to find some switch stand lanterns to mount on the Bachmann switch stands. I’m pretty handy with modeling so I just need the lanterns ie. a switch stand lantern has four opening for the glass lenses, two red, two green, two amber, what ever arrangement the railroad used. The USA lanterns would work great if they had four opening, but there only three opening lanterns. I don’t want to make them, but I can if I have to, it would be nice if someone made then on their 3-D printer, but I have not seen any for sale as of yet. That’s a hint for those with 3-D printers.

John,

If you are looking at scale lanterns then Ozark miniatures has them, including day targets if you are so inclined. beyond that I think trackside details may have one, but in brass. all come with jewel lenses. if you want better lenses look up an article I did on marker lamps earlier this year. now if you want semi scale do up a napkin with dims and we can talk, but ultimately you will want something more durable than plastic.

Al P.

P.S. look up toy man television on YouTube. he built some using Ozark castings as a base. I cannot condone making duplicates of another vendors product, but I guess there is no law against it.

I understand that. But that doesn’t mean that he can’t broaden his horizons and consider other things that would fill the bill.

If you don’t know about something, you can’t consider it. Or, maybe it will help him with his build in some other way.

Toy Man Television lanterns are very crude, I personally wouldn’t use then, I think I could scratch build them much better then that. Ozark Miniatures lanterns, the ones labeled for switch stands, look to me like they only have two sides open for light and I need four. I may contact OM and see what they say about there switch stand lanterns and ask for clarification on these lanterns.

They have 4 open sides, are same lanterns as used for loco markers, of which there are 2 subtly different styles & I’ve gotten bags with a mix of the 2 styles.

I think it is the caboose markers which have only 2 open sides, at least the caboose markers I got had that.
