I downloaded the PDF from garden railways for a switch, but it is a #5, is there anyplace to get the layout
for a #4 in actual size to build on? I see Sunset Valley has #4 frogs.
Kind of an off the wall suggestion, but could you find some kind of program that would shrink a pdf in only one dimension (length)?
I would think that 80 percent would work perfectly. 5 x 80% = 4
I suppose your tie spacing would be a little closer…
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Joe Satnik
Jerry, I have the mag and it shows the different lengths and dimensions of a #4 through #8 and the number of ties needed for each one. For a #4, measurements are as follows: whooops! WAAAAY too much info to post so I’ll send you an email

Try downloading switch diagrams from FastTraks.
Enlarge and print the appropriate scale. I would suggest the O #4 template as a starting point, as it will require the least enlargement.
WOW, big thanks! Pretty neat to see that!
What percentage should I blow them up to G scale?
1.25" gauge ->1.75" gauge = 140 % ?
1/48 -> 1/32 = 150 % ?
Somewhere in there.
Remember that O gauge is not “proto O” where 56.5"/48 = 1.177"
Tie size and spacing depend on what scale you are building for.
Best bet is to copy H0 templates and blow them up 300% for 1:29. Works out exactly.
Thanks Steve, simple is GOOD for my ol’ brain!
