Large Scale Central

SW-1

I had an oppertunity to operate a SW-1 while up at the Illinois railroad Museum, on Sat, 30 April… Got about a 4 to 4 & 1/2 mile run… This is the SW-1…

A few shots fron inside… There pictures were taken by a friend, during the actual operating of the loco…

Blowing the horn, for the road crossing:

Too much fun Andy!

You dog. Looks like a good time was had.

I got to take the controlls of a High-nose GP-7 pulling a way-frieght for about 15 miles when I was about 15…still remember it like yesterday more than 40 years later.

Randy, as a kid, My grandparents used to take down to Peabody Square... The Boston & Maine used to use an SW-1 to switch out the Tanning and other factories ... We'd start watching the train crew work one block, then we'd move down and watch them work a second Block... Usually, there were about 4-6 switching moves made on each block... Evey once in a while, one of the crew would come over, and ask if I wanted to go for a ride.... I'd get on board, and ride with them, while they worked the next block, and my grandparents would be me up at the end of that block... Being able to operate one of those type engines, was definitely an honor for me... :)

The smile on your face showed it all…a good time.

So coooooooool
Ralph

Randy, unfortunately, Jane was in louisville, KY, at the Hospital with her dad.... I was up there, with 2 friends, attending the ""Illinois Traction/Terminal"" society convention.. Ric was supposed to go also, but he had to cancel out, due to flooding at Carlyle lake... He had to take care of the marina.... :(

You would think the lad would have shaved the stuff off his chin for such an occasion…!!! He really isn’t a bad looking fella, when he smiles. Just think how good he would look, smiling, and with the chin shaved…!!! But then; it is his chin, and as long as he IS smiling, and healthy; what more could we ask for…!!

Congrats! You look right at home in the cab of that loco!
