Truly amazing, Cliff. (Great pictures, but it still looks better in person!)
Cliff,
I thought it would look fine without the tape and no one will notice but me anyway cause you invited me to look at it and Hollywood made me drive which I’m still pissed about cause he shagged into driving!
That’s right I forgot to make up an invoice for you and Hollywood to split for my gas and my time as posted earlier.
Stop Dick N. Around ( american guy I know) and you are done move on!
Professor has spoken
I hear and I obey!!
The other two model sections got packed fairly quickly this morning, so they’re all ready for crating.
Next up was consoles: disassembly, cleaning, bundling cords, etc.
Here’s how they got pre-assembled for shipping, using lasered scrap plywood and foam.
That takes care of all the big stuff needing prep work.
Now comes the loose parts and main spares:
Which will get distilled into something like this:
More will be added as I determine which supplies (scenic, cleaning stuff, etc.) are needed. Tools though will go in my checked luggage because I’ll want to bring them back.
I’m pleased this went as well as it did, no major oh-craps or broken parts. Tomorrow I hope to build the crates.
It’s almost sad to see it all wrapped up and heading out, I’ve gotten so used to the model staring at my back for almost a year (my desk is right in front of the work table).
OTOH, It’s awesome to have my work table back, I thought I’d never see it again!
Cheers,
Cliff
So what’s next on the work table?
Probably layout maintenance / improvements, since you said you’d kick my a$$ if I didn’t.

This morning I made the from-scratch flat crate and assembled (sort of) the main crate from U-Line. I put casters on the latter, since I’m gonna have to hump these things up the 500’ driveway when the semi comes to pick it up.
After bringing up the main bits from the basement with my BIL’s John Deere, aided by a 1988 Sears Craftsman sleeping bag…
… I did the flat crate packing. Lotsa foam cutting.
So, crate #2 is buttoned up.
I’ll work on crate #1 this coming weekend.
It was in the mid 90’s out in the garage, high humidity, woo hoo! Still not nearly as bad as what a lot of you have been facing.
I wasn’t allowed in the garage !

Thanks for having us 2 weeks ago. BTW you have a bees nest on the SW corner of the house. It’s all good and so are the Bees as they are good as well.
Yellow hornets… thanks…

How does someone type upside down? I copied and pasted that sentence into a Word doc. and sure enough, the last word is upside down.
PM forthcoming
must be some advanced egghead’s tecnology.
but i doubt, that it will catch on. ( it’s not very comfortable to turn the screen upside down to read these important messages)

I don’t care oɥʍ they came from
now i know!
Alexa told me.
for writing upside down, one has to switch the keyboard from English to Australian.
Final packing week and crating today:
This B-word is done!! And all ready for shipping on the 18th, which is only a couple weeks away, woo hoo!!
Yeah, that’s exactly how I feel. Odd saying adios to a year-long personal project.
Cliff!
You still have a couple of weeks?
It’s clearly time to uncrate it and add some more details. Stumpy horses. More junk and trash laying around.
So much time left!
Well, but, if you just can’t force yourself to do more, you can at least bask in the glory of yet another Cliff-scale ultimate-build that we all sit around oohing and aahing at.
Super great job. I’m sure the museum and visitors will enjoy it.
Cheers!
HAaahaa! I was almost gonna say Hey, you’re right, I’ll do it!! But now I see that my math stinks; the 18th is only one week away, so, no…
Thanks Jim!!
Things are moving along. I’ll ship Monday, Lord willing. Backdrop photography and skirt seamstressing are on-site efforts, and those folks have things well in hand.
I was THRILLED to see a pic of the table for the model today, built by a professional cabinet maker.
I’ll fly out on the 24th, and all is set for installation starting on Monday the 25th.
Working on presentations in the meantime.
Cheers,
Cliff
