Support this Site!

So,
I’m sure everyone is aware of what happened at MLS.

If you like it here, without the Google Ads, key word hyperlinks and assorted other BS, I suggest you support this site.

There’s a donation button on the main page. You can buy a Freight Shed for $20.
Or sponsor a forum.

The fact is, sooner or later the other company is going to wave a check in front of Bob’s nose.
That’s just how they operate.

When the time comes, let’s make it easy for Bob to say “no thank you” by properly supporting his efforts here.
Ralph

I’m with you Ralph, everyone who visits this site regularly should donate a few bucks to the ongoing upkeep of the site plus a few more bucks to fix Bob’s headaches putting up with us.

Ralph,

I have done exactly would you have mentioned. I have been a member here since 2007, not long compared to the majority here. About three years ago, I started to see that owner of MLS seemed to be losing interest in the site. That’s when I started to post more over here, thanks to the coaxing of my buddy Rick Marty. AND I also started to donate to help keep Bob’s site here. It’s been good for me too, because I have had good luck here with buying and selling items. Many of the same folks from MLS post here also.

Ralph is correct about doing what we can to keep LSC online. There are just not that many train sites left that are owned by “train hobbyists”. JMHO

Ok, help me out here. What is a freight shed?

And yes, I agree, donating to the site is a really good idea. I was a paying member over at LSOL. To pay this site instead, now that LSOL is drying up and blowing away, would not affect my budget at all, but it would help keep this site here.

Good point Ralph and done!

Bob gives us a certain amount of space to host photos free.
Additional space can be purchased. This is a freight shed.
Other files can also be stored in the freight shed.
Ralph

Ok, I thought that what it was, but there isn’t a FAQ tab for me to find out for sure. I will have to look into that. I would like to be able to store my roster “off-site” so if anything happens I will still have a copy, somewhere

Done

i appreciate it, everyone. It all helps!

Well I’m in for $20 …keeps me away from TV (and there’s better entertainment on here anyway!!)

I make my donation for a worthy cause just because I enjoy this website and it needs our support. TOF in Oregon

O.K., I’m in too - so how does one go about buying a freight shed ?

Walt

Send Bob a message.
It used to be on the old front page.
Try clicking the Freight Shed tab at the top and see what happens
Ralph

I did, 2 options to pay, paypal or check. Well, since I haven’t used paypal in so long, I don’t even know my log in anymore, I will have to send him a check. That means I have to do it next week, after payday. My most recent pay went into new tyres for my Jeep.

I sent a small donation but will come back later with more. Thanks for using Paypal. That makes it very easy.

I’m happy to support the site. And how about an Insurance Policy for the site, like a company poison pill? You buy the site and we all get $1M each ?

As I remarked elsewhere, I feel that VS is buying ‘eyeballs’ to push ads in front thereof. If we let this site get too successful, they’ll be after us!

(P.S. A Freight Shed subscription is now $25. And worth every penny.)

(P.P.S. And, if you take advantage of all that extra file storage in your Freight Shed, make sure you have a backup!!)

I followed Ralph’s note and sent you $20 for the Freight Shed! When I get more money in my PayPal account I’ll send you $5!

The site is already popular. Bruce Chandler has a post with some 36,000 views. I have a post with over 31,000 views. I’m sure there are others.

VS will come knockin, I have no doubt.
They have no way to track Bob’s revenue. Just the site traffic.

It’s not so much about us trying to compete with whatever VS could offer.
It’s more about supporting Bob’s effort and letting him know we appreciate having someplace to go where we’re not bombed with Google Ads and all the other BS.

yes. well to the point.

Thanks Ralph for the information.
I also intend to make a donation. However, I’ve looked on the “HOME” page and have not located the donation button Ralph and others reference. Is the “HOME” page the same as the referenced main page?
Better yet, is there an address we may use to make a donation by check?

Thanks,
Wendell
(Honest, this is my “real” name – who could have made this one up?)
